Euros Victory for Spain

Sun, Sand, and Euros: A Perfect Spanish Getaway to Marbella and Malaga

This summer I went to Spain on a family holiday, a country with a vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and unbeatable energy. Our trip took us to the beautiful cities of Marbella and Malaga, where every moment was filled with discovery, relaxation, and unforgettable memories.

Marbella greeted us with the charm of its historic old town, a maze of narrow, cobbled streets alive with color and energy. Every turn revealed charming shops and bustling local markets, filled with the buzz of sales and passionate chatter. From handmade crafts to unique boutiques, the old town was a filled with the most colourful buildings. Crockery and ornaments were proudly on display in shop windows, and one store had around 100 flamenco skirts on display on its balconies. The bursts of colours and patterns spilled out through the balusters. The atmosphere in Marbella's old town was wonderfully inviting, and we found ourselves returning each afternoon, soaking up the warmth and energy of the place.

Of course, no trip to Marbella would be complete without some beach time. Our local beach in Malaga was pristine, lined with golden sand and tranquil waves. People queued to jet ski on the water, and the local beach club had dozens of sun beds with soft music from the bar. We spent our first night eating at the restaurant, where they were particularly accomodating to my brother’s dietary requirements. Our first night we were greeted with a beautiful pastel sunset, with the smell of fresh salty water as we ate under the eave of the building.

Spanish food truly lived up to the hype. Each meal was its own adventure, from classic tapas and fresh seafood to the iconic paella. Every restaurant we visited had its own twist on traditional dishes, making each experience unique. Sharing tapas, tasting jamón ibérico, and enjoying the freshness of local ingredients became highlights of our trip. One evening, we had a paella that I still think about—the flavors were deep, hearty, and absolutely memorable.

An absolute highlight of our trip was watching Spain clinch the victory in the Euros 2024. The atmosphere was electric; you could feel the pride and excitement radiating through the streets. Locals and travelers alike gathered to celebrate, cheering, dancing, and singing in a shared moment of joy. Experiencing this historic win while in Spain felt surreal. The celebrations that followed were unforgettable, full of laughter, joy, and camaraderie that made us feel truly connected to the spirit of Spain.

An Unforgettable Trip

Reflecting on our time in Spain, it was the ideal blend of relaxation, exploration, and celebration. From the charm of Marbella’s sunny streets to the historic views in Malaga, and the thrill of watching Spain’s Euro victory, every moment was memorable. The welcoming people, incredible food, and stunning landscapes left a lasting impression - and a strong urge to return.
